hmm. it's suddenly occurred to me that i'd really like to go back to burning man this year.

the playa really does call to you, tempting you to return. i feel like i should be getting ready for a splendid week in the desert. i miss the heat, the dust, the complete adventure around every bend, the whole indescribable experience. i know i'll make it back there someday...

everyone who is partaking, have a wonderful time!

location: my apartment
music: elliott smith - riot coming

jackie and i are off to mexico for the next 9 days! we are driving down and have no plans, just going to see where the wind takes us. i see ruins and cave art, desert vistas, aquamarine waters, cute marine sea friends, music (gimme psy trance and mexican metal please), and adventure in my future. and the food. oh the food. i am eager for grilled lobster and fresh juice from road side stands.

i will return a 26 year old. woo! i want to do some sort of beach birthday ritual. perhaps i shall. i look forward to this year as one of growth and change.

thank you all so much for making my san francisco birthday celebration special and delicious! i had such a lovely time, thoroughly enjoyed my dinner, and recall singing the egg song very loudly, and running down 16th street with no shoes on. hmm. good times.

now, off to celebrate in baja, with lots and lots of flavorful street food and gorgeous beaches. :D

(yes. we are leaving a day late. thats just how we roll.)

map love

Jun. 30th, 2007 | 07:46 pm
location: my apartment
music: elliott smith - new disaster

today, i attended mapping the city: artists engage with the urban environment, a free all day lecture at the de young with wiljago.

psychogeography, site specific art installations, activism, cartography, and emotional topography were just some of the fascinating and inspiring items touched upon. we heard from a wide range of artists, who spoke about "anti-social networking events", finding art in unexpected places, mapping human emotions on a cultural landscape, and the relationship between cities, its citizens, and art.

southern exposure, the gallery/art collective that hosted the event was awesome, and i cant wait to visit their mission headquarters and attend more of their events.

i am so excited to get back to school and learn even more about these things.

wilja and i also took a guided walk through some of the private/public spaces of the de young, and admired the view of the city from the stunning observation tower. we looked at cute small dogs and had conversations about art, life, and lettuce. we ended the day at the ultra deliciousmy tofu house, where we shared spicy tofu soup, vegetable bibimbap, and a bevy of kim chee delights. oh yeah.

tonight, the zivity fun funding party at a pacific heights mansion. with a pool. in the living room. !!!

my wallet was stolen out of my handbag last night at 1964.

my id, my atm card, my credit cards, numerous other cards i am having a hard time recalling, my international student id card, some cash, and business cards from many restaurants were all shoved in there, along with random sentimental items.

the positive: the fuckwad jerkhat did not take my entire bag, thankfully leaving me with my keys, phone, make up, and murakami book. i didnt have that much cash in there. i already called and notified those who needed to be notified, and let them know not to let any charges after midnight go through.

the negative: obviously, my wallet is gone. i have no money or id. i am hungry and without funds to go get a snack. it will take 7-10 business days to get my replacement cards. i am tired, barely got any sleep. and i feel violated.

kill.
i have a headache.

i am trying to feel lucky, since it could have been a lot worse. but i am still upset.

lovely moments from past week

Dec. 7th, 2006 | 11:14 pm
location: my apartment
music: futurama on television

last thursday- discovering red box sushi with justin, firecracker balls and shredded inari, soundless akira, snarkatron, (poh!), halou at the dna. my mind is haunted by their music for days! i love them so!

saturday- exploring sutro baths at dusk, walking along the beautiful moonlit ruins, crashing waves against the cliffs, debating throwing a jambox party in one of the nooks, lindsays birthday celebration at a hawaiian bbq, an incredibly entertaining stoney walk through the tenderloin at 3am, drug deals, tranny hoes, arrests, skeeze+++. lovely cuddles once returning home. :D

sunday- sleeping in, japantown adventures, kinokuniya bookstore, mifune temptations, ergo proxy, dj practice/frustration/learning, cozy night at the factory.

tuesday- a most excellent thai massage at a little hole in the wall place on polk street. reminded me so much of the places in thailand! my massage therapist even trained at wat po! i feel great and plan to go back next month. yay yoga+massage!

last night justin and i went to uncle vito's pizza for delightful pesto pizza, cesaer salads, and fried cheese ravioli, and followed that up with ocelot at synchronize.

i am sleepy, about to climb into bed with a few episodes of ergo proxy.
so looking forward to the weekend! 216 party on saturday! rest! relaxation! good times!

first post from new job

Oct. 31st, 2006 | 06:10 pm
location: downtown office
music: worker bee noises

my past two weekends have been quite excellent.

the weekend before last, i had the pleasure of meeting justin's mom. she is adorable and i want to toss her into the air. we had such a great time- on saturday, the three of us grabbed delicious sandwiches from genovas and took them to the berkeley rose garden. the roses seemed to be dying off already, but the weather was gorgeous. we ate, chatted, and took photos. we spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around berkeley- music shopping at amoeba, browsing through an herb shop on telegraph, making an after dark visit to justins workplace, and talking over many a glass of wine/mug of brew. we managed to get chez panisse rez, so we enjoyed a delectable meal whilst discussing life and psychedelics. justin and i dropped her back off at the clairemont around 1am, all of us rather tipsy from our wine heavy day.

we met back up on sunday, and drove to the city. we visited the burning man art piece near the bay bridge, walked over to the ferry building, went to the new mall, checked out a couple of shops and bought creme puffs. justin bought me a pair of lovely metal-yet-girly earrings from anthropologie. we then went to the castro theatre to see the weirdest movie ever made- and not weird in a good way. it was crispon hellion glovers directorial debut, and he was there to present his film. it started out quite interesting, with a lenghty performance by glover- him reading from books he "wrote", while images from the books were projected on the movie screen. it was twisted, dark, and funny. but the movie itself was a huge let down, barely making any sense at all, and just succeeding in pissing all three of us off. it was definitely an interesting experience, to say the least. we then walked down to delfina (mmm mm!) to meet my mom for dinner. our moms chatted and were cute, and we all indulged in delightful food stuffs. when justin and his mom dropped me back off at home later that night, she presented me with a chez panisse engagement calendar i had pointed out earlier in the day. CUTE.

over the week, we also took her to suzu for delicious hand pulled noodles, followed by dimples for a sketchy brothel experience. we rounded out our evening by walking the labyrinth at grace cathedral under the moon.

i so enjoyed my time with her, and it was heartwarming as hell to see her and justin together. also, i am going to go to iowa with justin over thanksgiving, which i am ridiculously excited about! IOWA! :D

this weekend- on friday, justin and i went to ryokos for marvelously tasty sushi rolls, and then went to philip and tracys space for their halloween party. it was fun, but we left around 2, hoping to make it to another party at the biscuit factory. on the way home, we got a flat tire, and had to call for service, due to a stripped tire wrench. we were stranded at 4th and brannon, which at that point in time, was the DRUNKEST CORNER IN HUMAN HISTORY. it was latin explosion night at the glas kat, and i have seriously never seen such an influx of drunk humans on one corner. at one point, a guy stumbled over to our car, packed up our truck with a stumbly determination, and then proceeded to climb into justins back seat, squashing my delightful sushi leftovers in the process. through out this whole ordeal justin was physically trying to move him away from the car, and i was yelling, and even called the cops. he finally realized it was not his car when his friends screeched up to the corner, bellowing at him to get out. it was a crazy few minutes to say the least. we did not make it to the second party that night.

on saturday, we enjoyed a very nice day at home, cooking, resting, watching movies, and other very nice things. we went to lindsay and bobs halloween party that night- but being the nocturnal freaks that we are, got there AFTER everyone else had left. lindsay, the obscenely sweet one that she is, still invited us in warmly for pie and beer, we chatted for awhile, with a passed out bob snoring next to us on the couch. after that, we went over to a cool space on harrison and 11th for the highko party- highko was crazy as hell, and a lot of fun to dance to. we passed out that night around 7am.

sunday was also spent relaxing- going to our favorite cafe on polk, shopping at real foods, cooking dinner, and watching more cyberpunk flicks. justin left after dinner, and i got some much needed cleaning done around my apartment and went to sleep early. i am still trying to adjust to waking up early for work. i am managing, but oh, its hard.

tonight i am going to the bar feeders show with amy and jackie and possibly justin. i dont know the other bands that are playing, but its an alcoholicaust event, and i generally like most of the music shows he puts on.

tomorrow is my dear ones birthday. (golden era of justin)

yes. happy halloween. spooky times.

iom v.3; a farewell to time off

Oct. 17th, 2006 | 11:28 pm
location: my moms house
music: philips nails clinking across the floor

iom iteration three was grand! i had a wonderful time with everyone, had lots of fun during my set, and enjoyed the other audio pleasures through out the night. good company and excellent tunes! and as always, i loved my after-party recap time with justin. we spent most of sunday lounging about, recovering and chatting.

here is my set list-
penta- always noon
dominator- reflection
cpc- revelation (3) (how i am in love with this album!)
derango- clairvoyage
cpc- revelation (7)
ocelot- damn
noise gust- summon spell
ka-sol- tecmorning
megalopsy- juggling spheres
penta- dangerous game (oh yeah)

i also spent monday and tuesday with justin at the factory, since i start my new job tomorrow morning at 9am, and had to get some final day factory time in, heh. good bye, lazy life. i'll miss you, free time. oh, sleep, the times we've shared. staying up all night... i will think of you fondly.

i've really enjoyed my past six months (!!?#?!!@!!) off. i feel i used my time well overall. slept in, went to museums, hiked in the mountains, read a lot, had lunch with friends, surprised justin with mid-day pizza snaxxs, had spa days, stayed out late without worry, went to burning man, spun music at the factory, watched late night dvds. it was refreshing and needed. i just wish i did even more! i wanted to write some travel logs, unpack my apartment, make some tunes in logic, go to a retreat center... well, i can still do all of that. i will continue to make time for what is important to me. as much as i'll miss my copious time off, i think i just might be ready to head back into the work world. i know i am certainly ready to start making money again. give me cash!

i will be at the proem/bitcrush show tomorrow. yay!
