i'm running off to barcelona for 4 (+?) weeks next year, does that count?

i picked it because it has the TEFL certification program i want, it's in a tolerable climate zone, it's full of hot dudes and i already know some Spanish.

it also has some seriously delicious edibles and breath-taking architecture, or so i hear.

have you been before?

well, i am going to sweden for a couple of weeks this summer with my mom, but then i plan to wander off for a brief solo trip afterwards...so, i do not know what my choice is yet! argh! decisions!

at the moment, i am leaning towards either prague, for the architecture and history and awesome skull-filled churches, berlin (though i've already been), for the nightlife and insanely friendly people, or san sebastian, for the food. though i change my mind every other day.

when will you be in spain?

oh dude i thought you were idly daydreaming...GO TO IRELAND
i mean
GO TO IRELAND
and what i'm trying to say is
IRELAND IRELAND IRELAND

especially the south.
fuck europe. go to ireland.

or actually, if you don't want to go toooo far from sweden, go to denmark! it's like a danish version of ireland, hahaha. Denmark is pretty awesome. if you decide to go to denmark, I can point you in some good directions.

prague/the CZRep is good too, but that's a big old plane trip. or a million year train ride.

eee, i am so very excited for you! i am determined to do the tefl thing someday as well.

yes! the sweet berliners saved me and my friends after a comical, yet entirely accidental, drug overdose, so maybe i am biased :)

i have been to ireland, but only dublin and the surrounding areas. i liked it quite a bit, but i was horrifically ill during my last few days there, so i definitely need to go back to experience more. what did you like so much about it, aside from the adorable accents? ;)

i love denmark too, copenhagen being one of my favorite cities on earth. i am trying to go to places i havent been before, but copenhagen is quite the seductress, at least to me. sigh. love it.

intercontinental airfare are so cheap now! lucky ass europeans can jaunt from one end to the other for like 8 euros.

I liked the fact that it was easier to meet people in Ireland than just about anywhere else in the universe (except maybe Oz). There's a huge sense of community and cohesiveness (esp for such a reputable polit/relig nightmare). Plus so much live music everywhere, awesome untouched land, renegade sheep, good beer, etc. etc. but mostly the attitude. and the sense of humor.

hmm. i'd say go to spain then, if you haven't been. holy crap hot dudes. plus the lifestyle is great, you have to really adjust your brain to dinner at midnight and bed at 8 am, not to mention the mid-day 3 hour nap. also, chocolata y churros!!!!!!

fuck, you had me at 3 hour nap, though i will certainly not complain about hot menfolk or late night dining. :D

i want to be eating chocolata y churros RIGHT. NOW. ahhh! gimme!

i am pretty sure spain is going to have to be in my future. mmm, spain.

are you going alone to take your tefl courses, or with a friend/fam member?

Barcelona works, but I'd probably go with Berlin. Or maybe somewhere I haven't been, like Warsaw.

i would also lean towards germany... as it seems to happen every so often: everything i'm listening to right now is from german producers.

(i may end up going w/my mother next spring)

you would love berlin. i can see you finding it quite aesthetically pleasing.

i am also going on a trip with my mom, to sweden, in the summer, and i plan to run off for a week or so by myself afterwards. currently trying to decide where i want to wander.

i'm tempted to go back to berlin for numerous reasons, one of the most enticing being that i love the music and nightlife it has to offer; berlin being ground zero for iamx, miss kittin, ellen allien, t. ramenhausen and so much more! yum! yes please.

budapest because it is a city i have always wanted to go to, but last time i was hanging out in europe, it was a little too dangerous to go there. also it has beautiful architect, a glorious history and all these really awesome underground caves.

i am going to sweden for two weeks with my mom in june/july, and then i am going to trek out on my own for a bit, or perhaps meet up with some friends, so i am trying to decide which cities i would like to focus on. right now i have like 40 on my list.

when are we getting dinner? i want to hear about *your* recent travels!

Prague!!!!

It's the best. I saw all sorts of cool art on the streets, the best avante-garde classical music, the weirdest old buildings, and that was just downtown. Plus it's all pretty damn affordable.
